Zoe Saldana was born on the 19th of June, 1978, in Passaic, New Jersey, to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. Her parents, Aridio and Asalia have both been Puerto Ricans. Her family was raised by her mother who lived in Queens. At the age of 10, old her family and she were relocated to the Dominican Republic, where they lived for the next seven years. Zoe's love for dancing was ignited when they were living in the Dominican Republic. Zoe started her dance training with ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy. Apart from offering a way to express creatively the young and enthusiastic student and her training in dance proved to be an important precursor to her first acting profession.
